SERGEANT SL Hlungwane who is accused of killing her husband appeared briefly before the Soshanguve Magistrates Court on Tuesday, 6 February.
Hlongwane (44) is still in detention and presented her formal bail application, stating that she does not want to remain in custody until her case is resolved, but did not explain why.
Hlungwane, who works at Dube Police Station, was arrested by the Independent Police Investigative Directorate (Ipid) on Sunday, January 28, for allegedly killing her spouse in Soshanguve Extension 7, north of Pretoria.

This comes after her and her husband, Russell Hlongwane (40), allegedly got into a fight on Sunday, January 28 and grabbed the sergeant's official weapon from her handbag and pointed it at her.
"She allegedly attempted to take the firearm from her spouse, causing a scuffle. The firearm was discharged four times during the scuffle, hitting the husband," said Ipid spokeswoman, Lizzy Shuping.
Russell died on Sunday, January 31 at an unnamed hospital in Tshwane.
Tlangelani Tsonga, the deceased's sister had to fly from Cape Town to say goodbye to her brother who she stated had been fully okay the last time she saw him during the holidays.
"We must stop the sugar coating gender-based violence because it's real. So many men suffer in silence," she said, adding that her brother was allegedly murdered by the woman he married.
Hlongwane's memorial service took place on Saturday, February 2, at his home in Mmakaunyana in the North West province, followed by his funeral on Saturday, February 3. He was buried at Mmakaunyana Cemetery.
Hlongwane's bail application was heard today and adjourned for Monday, 12 February, for judgement.
