A MAN will remain behind bars for allegedly killing his mother on Monday morning, 22 May.
This after he appeared in the Protea Magistrates Court on Wednesday, 31 May.
Bakhe Bhembe (39) is accused of killing his 73-year-old mother, Busisiwe with an axe. Her body was found by her other son lying in her bed covered in blood. The son then called a neighbour.
Daily Sun published the story on Wednesday, 24 May.
Protea Glen community members came out in court in numbers to support the family and chanted: "No bail" at the court gate.
Busisiwe's daughter, Sibonginkosi revealed to Daily Sun that her brother did not show any sign of remorse. "We are here in court and they have given us a date for 12 June to come back. We are very hurt and broken. All I want is for justice to prevail," she said.
She said it was still difficult for the family to process the whole thing.
"A lot of families have come across this situation we are therefore asking that the community show us support during this hard trying time," said Sibonginkosi.
Community member Nomusa Molefe said she attended the court case to support the family. She emphasised that no bail should be given.
"We are saying no bail. Bakhe needs to pay for the gruesome way he allegedly killed his mother. He must stay in jail. What he did is very painful, no child can do that to their parents," said Nomusa.

ActionSA member Ntlahla Dungayezi said it was their duty as a party to offer their support and say no to gender-based violence.
"We want fair justice. People must stop committing crimes and then walk free as if nothing happened. The accused must stay in jail and pay for the crime he allegedly committed,” said Dungayezi.
The matter was postponed to 12 June and the accused remains in police custody.
