Slow start to the ANC policy conference!

THE ANC policy conference got off to a slow that on Friday July 29 with relatively few delegates.  

Even party chairman Minerals and Energy Minister Gwede Mantashe complained about empty seats as got the program underway two hours late into the program.  

"I think we have too many seats comrade," complained Mantashe, adding that it was normally the case when the leadership was doubtful that the masses led themselves.

Unlike in most conferences which are characterized by singing of revolutionary songs, the plenary was eerily quiet to an extent that President Cyril Ramaphosa entered into a muted mood with no recognition of the party leader.  

The conference is meeting over two days to evaluate and review its policies ahead of the national conference in December.  

Ramaphosa is expected to address the opening
