Sleeping man dodges death!

A MAN is living in fear after a gunman tried to kill him while he was sleeping. in his locked shack.

The man from Khayelitsha, Cape Town, said he heard gunshots on Saturday, 28 May, but ignored them until he realised they were aimed at his shack.

He said he was shocked when he went out at around 7am to find cartridges in front of his house and bullet holes next to the door. He also found a bullet inside.

“Clearly someone wanted me dead. They shot and thought they had killed or wounded me while I slept,” he said.

When the SunTeam visited his shack, in a new informal settlement behind False Bay College, , they found three cartridges in front of his door and a bullet next to his bed.

The terrified man said since the shooting, he had been sleeping in the boot of his car as he didn’t know if the attacker would return..

When asked if he had enemies, he said he had issues with shebeen owners who made a noise all night.

“But I don’t know, maybe that is where it is coming from but I don’t want to speculate. I will wait for the cops to investigate and find out,” he said.

Neighbours said they heard the gunshots.

but didn’t know where they were coming from. “We didn’t go out to go out and check because if you do that, you become a victim,” We just slept and were shocked to hear our neighbour telling us about this attack,” said a resident.

Police spokesman Sergeant Wesley Twigg said: “An attempted murder case was registered at Lingelethu West SAPS. The suspect is unknown and no arrests have been made.” The investigation into the matter continues,” said Twigg.
