SKELETON FOUND AT BEACH!

HUMAN remains were found partially buried in sand on an Eastern Cape beach.

Walmer police in Nelson Mandela Bay have opened an inquiry after a skeleton was found partially buried at the foot of a sand dune at Sardinia Bay beach.

According to police spokeswoman Colonel Priscilla Naidu, the discovery was made on Sunday, 19 December by a person walking near the dunes.

“Police were called to the scene and confirmed that the skeleton may have been buried for a period of time. The remains were buried between 5-25cm in the sand. There were no clothes or any other information that could assist police in any identification.

“The skeleton will be sent for forensic analysis to determine race, age and sex. An inquiry docket has been opened for investigation, however police are appealing to anyone who may have reported any person missing or drowned to contact Detective Lieutenant-Colonel Melody Oranje of Walmer detectives on 082 441 8505, 041 581 1496 or 041 509 4000 or CrimeStop on 08600 10111 or their nearest police station,” said Naidu.

Elsewhere, Madeira police in Mthatha in the Eastern Cape are investigating a case of murder after the body of a 39- year-old man was found on Saturday, 18 December in Nyathi Crescent, Northcrest.

Sergeant Kaya Matola-Mvanyashe said: “It’s not clear when the incident occurred but it is alleged that the deceased was last seen on Monday 13 December. He was discovered on Saturday, 18 December at about 9am when two of his friends came to look for him. They found him dead in his room with an open wound on the upper body.”

The motive behind the murder is unknown at this stage and no arrest has been made yet as the investigation continues.
