AN UNIDENTIFIED body was discovered trapped inside a drainage system in Newlands, Joburg.
Joburg Emergency Management Services (EMS) spokesman Robert Mulaudzi confirmed that a search for the body in the drainage system pipeline was underway.
“A search and recovery operation to recover a body which is trapped along the drainage sewerage system in Newlands is underway this morning,” he said.

Mulaudzi said the body was identified by Joburg Roads Authority (JRA) and Joburg Water workers on Wednesday, 7 February.
“While they were conducting repairs and maintenance work in the area, they discovered the body.”
