SENZO Meyiwa’s brother, Sfiso, is facing allegations of corruption from the police.
At this stage, he has not been formally charged, but he has been made aware of an investigation.
For now, it’s not clear what he is alleged to have done, but investigations are not related to his brother’s murder case.
The investigation was confirmed by police spokeswoman, Colonel Athlenda Mathe.
Speaking about a video that recently circulated on social media in which Sfiso complains the police are threatening him, she said: “The SAPS wishes to encourage him to lodge a formal complaint or open a case of intimidation for investigation.
“In relation to other claims by Mr Meyiwa in the same clip, police are not at liberty to give comments in the best interests of the investigations that are underway.”
In the video, Sfiso claims he and Advocate Malesela Teffo are getting threats from the police.
He said a senior official told him he was being investigated for corruption.
“I just want our nation to know that these people who are investigating my brother’s case, one of them, a colonel, called me on 29 March.
“She said she wants to have a meeting with me because there’s an investigation against me, with allegations of corruption.
“So I’m now waiting for them to come and charge me.
“They’re trying to threaten me because of something I discovered in the case,” he said.
Sfiso and Teffo have long been accusing the police of failing to do their job. They believe the five suspects in court for Senzo’s murder are not connected to the case.
Daily Sun tried to reach out to both, but they did not answer their phones or respond to text messages.
