COPS in Gqeberha have launched a manhunt for two suspects who shot and killed a 52-year-old woman in New Brighton on Thursday, 4 August.
According to Colonel Priscilla Naidu, it is alleged that at about 12.40pm, two armed men entered business premises in Mtiya Street and found Bongiwe Wendy Hani and a co-worker in the kitchen.
“They demanded money from the victims and one suspect pointed a firearm at them. After the second suspect retrieved his firearm, a shot went off, injuring his accomplice,” Naidu said in a statement.
She added that both victims were ordered to lie on the floor and Hani was shot in the back by the injured suspect, who then staggered out.
“The second suspect also shot her in her head. Nothing was taken, and the suspects are unknown at this stage.”
She said a case of murder had been registered.
