IT seems the Joburg CBD cannot catch a break from disasters.
This time, Joburg Emergency Management Services (EMS) responded to a fire at yet another building in Marshalltown on Wednesday, 20 September.
They put out flames that had engulfed the basement level of the Sars building.
EMS spokeswoman Nana Radebe said: "The emergency service team responded to the scene after receiving a call of a structural fire in Marshalltown where the Sars building had caught on fire. We can confirm that the fire was contained in the basement level which was used as storage."
She said employees were evacuated from the building when the fire broke out, and it was confirmed that everyone is safe.
The cause of fire is still unknown, however, Radebe said investigations into the cause will be conducted once the damping down process has been completed.

The city has seen a string of building fires in the past few weeks.
On Friday, 15 September, a three-storey hijacked building on Delvers Street in Marshalltown caught fire. At the time, EMS reported that the fire started on the ground floor, which had shacks.
This followed the deadly fire at Usindiso Shelter, which claimed the lives of 77 people on Thursday, 31 August.
