THE South African Communist Party (SACP) marched to the Department of Correctional Services in Tshwane on Thursday, 15 June, demanding an inquest into the brutal killing of its former general secretary, Chris Hani.
They also picketed outside the Department of Water and Sanitation in solidarity with the residents of Hammanskraal, Tshwane, who have been subjected to drinking dirty water.
SACP Tshwane spokesman Mpho Mogakane read their memorandum, which was directed to Justice and Correctional Services Minister Ronald Lamola.
Mogakane said on 30 November 2022, together with the alliance ANC, Cosatu and Umkhonto weSizwe, they submitted a memorandum to the department demanding the full inquest into the assassination of Hani on 10 April 1993.
"The state's Truth and Reconciliation Commission under the democratic government concluded that assassins of Hani failed to make full disclosure of the truth and all the circumstances surrounding the magnitude they carried out. We demanded justice and his family and South African people, including the SACP, were affected by his assassination," he said.
He said they reiterate that it's nothing but apartheid justice as opposed to real justice.

"The parole board failed our democracy as opposed to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission which has full disclosure of the truth as its yardstick for amnesty. Apartheid justice doesn't care about full disclosure of the truth as the ground for remorse or sincere apology," he said.
He said it's nothing but injustice to elevate the assassin's privileges above the victim's rights. He said historically, the assassination of Hani was aimed at spilling more blood.
SACP Gauteng leader, Sekete Moshoeshoe, said: "As we are about to celebrate 16 June, it seems to us that the struggle continues."
A senior official in the HR department of correctional services, Kenneth Mthombeni, received the memorandum.
Deputy minister of water and sanitation, David Mahlobo, also received the memorandum and said they intervened on the Hammanskraal water issue.
