RISE Mzansi Youth and Student Chapters have blasted the ANC Youth League for using Nasi Ispani to get votes.
Student Chapter’s Lawrence Manaka said platforms established to address Mzansi's unemployment should cater for all young people seeking employment opportunities and should not be used as an electioneering tool.
“Preference for work opportunities should not rely on which party people choose to vote for or belong to,” he said.
Nasi Ispani is the brainchild of Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi.
On Sunday, ANCYL president Collen Malatji told thousands of supporters gathered at the ANC rally in Alexandra that Nasi Ispani must be for ANC volunteers and voters.
“He stated what many know to be true, and what communities consistently raise the alarm about, that government opportunities are reserved for those with ANC membership,” said Manaka.
He said Malatji made evident the legacy of corruption and theft by politicians in the ANC.
“The ANC continues to tolerate corruption by perpetuating corrupt practices, echoing the need for new leaders who demand a better future, free from political and government neglect and corruption,” he said.
Lesufi claimed in his State of the Province Address that in the year since its launch, the initiative has created more than 90 0000 job opportunities in the province.

Manaka said poor leadership, as demonstrated by the ANC, has delayed the shared dream of becoming an equal society.
“True governance is not about dangling job opportunities to desperate sections of our society with the hopes of acquiring votes. It is about solving the pressing matters faced by youth, such as unemployment, Nsfas' lack of funding and crime,” he said.
Manaka said the problems faced by young people in Mzansi are fueled by the failure to get the basics right, to do things for the common good, and the inability to appoint capable people.
He said the only way to end the abuse of power is by removing and replacing the unsuitable, incapable and uncaring leaders with new, ethical and capable leaders.
“Only a Rise Mzansi government can ensure the ethical leadership of South Africa and ease the entry of young individuals into the jobs pool, while solving South Africa’s need for job creation.
“The youth of South Africa needs new leaders who prioritise all youth, not just those who belong to this or that political party,” Manaka said.
