GATVOL residents of Ward 17 and Ward 18 in Eldorado Park, Joburg, marched from Corner Golden Highway and Main Road to Eldorado Park police station on Saturday, 4 November.
This in solidarity against allegations of ill treatment, verbal abuse, intimidation, and physical abuse from councillors of the Patriotic Alliance.
They handed over a memorandum of complaints to the Chief Whip of the Patriotic Alliance, Peter Rafferty.
Community activist Stephanie Duiker told Daily Sun they had received several complaints from residents from the group called "the gatvol’s community united" .
"Residents are unhappy about the disrespect from councillors overstepping their mandate. We are also fighting the issue of a lack of service delivery and also the oppression of our residents," said Duiker.

She said some community members claim to have been assaulted by councillors.
"We have handed out a memorandum which is not demands, but complaints from the residents of Kliptown and Klipspruit about stuff they need but councillors are not doing their job with regards to that," she added.
The memorandum was successfully handed over to the Chief Whip.
"I would have loved to have leaders come to the community and ask why the community is marching against their councillors, but none of that happened," she said.
Speaking on behalf of the councillors, Rafferty confirmed to Daily Sun that he had received the memorandum from the community where they listed all their grievances.
"In terms of service delivery issues that are there, we will closely look into those and improve where we need to improve. But in terms of allegations of councillors, those are false cases made against councillors to intimidate them.
He added that to a certain extent, those allegations want to limit councillor's movements in the areas where they should perform service delivery.
"We will look into it and give a proper response," he concluded.
Some residents raised concerns about crime and drug use amongst the youth which councillor Rafferty responded to, assuring them it would be attended to with the relevant authorities.
