RESIDENTS of Kagiso 2 are living in fear that their houses will be demolished.
The residents of the area of Ledig Village, near Rustenburg in North West, are on land that has been earmarked for a R3,2 billion development project.
Thabo Mogorosi said he had sleepless nights.
“We are scared of being homeless. I have invested a lot in building my house,” he said.

Mavis Dikgang said it was painful because they had worked very hard for the things they had.
Ledig Business Forum chairman, Ben Gumbi, said the residents will be given an opportunity to be moved and the houses of those who refused would be demolished.
“Occupants can be moved to a new settlement where they will be able to have access to services,” he said.

He said the land was secured for a community development project six years ago.
“People were told not to build on the site. We have enough records to evict and demolish the houses,” he said.
