MOSES Modisane thought his life was over when he was arrested in 2018 on charges of rape and kidnapping.
Little did he know it would lead to him pursuing a bright new career.
The 25-year-old was studying education, and was a Student Representative Council (SRC) member, at the University of the Witwatersrand when he spent a month in jail before getting bail.
He said after his ex-girlfriend accused him of rape, he lost funding and everyone saw him as a monster. He returned home to Rustenburg, North West, to focus on his case.
After firing three Legal Aid lawyers who were not helping him, Moses decided to represent himself. He won the case on Friday, 28 October.

Moses, now a first-year law student, said: “I won against the NPA and it bowed its heads in shame.”
He said he decided to study law to help innocent people.
“I want to be an advocate and make sure that when a client is arrested, they are out within 24 hours. No one deserves to be in jail because someone is vindictive.”
Moses said it emerged in court that his ex-girlfriend was pushed to open a case.
“She stated that people in the SRC pushed her to do it.”
NPA spokeswoman Phindi Louw-Mjonondwane said: “The court found the complainant contradicted herself and discharged the accused.”
