The government has urged pupils to remain cautious as celebrations of "pens down" continue.
Since Wednesday, 30th November, pupils have been spotted in various corners of the country celebrating the end of writing exam papers for the year.
The Justice, Crime Prevention Security Cluster has further called for parents and guardians to immediately report their children missing should they become suspicious.
"Pens down celebrations can involve the use of drugs and alcohol, which leads to dangerous incidents.
"Government urges all learners to refrain from such practices to save their lives and avoid any unfortunate incidents.
"We also urge parents to be vigilant and ensure that they monitor their children's whereabouts during this time."
The "pens down" parties have become a common annual year-end event which was initially started by matriculants after writing their final high school year papers. More and more pupils from lower grades have since become part of these R2 celebrations.
In the past few months, campaigns have emerged in an attempt to ban the parties to avert another tragedy involving school children.
Despite these efforts, more pens down are anticipated in the week ahead as some pupils are writing their last exam paper.
