MORORISENG Mokatsane (24) is seeking justice for her brother, who was assaulted.
This follows a video, making rounds on social media, of a pupil threatening another with a firearm. The 20-year-old was badly beaten up and allegedly threatened with a firearm on Wednesday, 7 September, in Wolmaransstad outside a school in Kruger Street.
“The perpetrator is a pupil and such behaviour is shocking. My brother, Lebogang, did his matric last year,” she said, adding that the reason for the attack was not clear.
“According to my brother, him and the perpetrator once had a misunderstanding that led to him getting threats of being killed. I don’t know their issue, but what he did to my brother is unacceptable.”

It has been alleged that he was given the firearm by his father.
“The police must investigate. We want justice for my brother. My family is affected by the incident because he is injured. We could have lost him because a firearm was involved. We want justice.”
Brigadier Sabata Mokgwabone said they were aware of the video regarding a confrontation among pupils. It is alleged that during the incident, one pupil took a firearm from his father and chased after a fellow pupil.
Mokgwabone said according to information, no shot was fired during the incident.
“Two cases of assault were opened. The police have disarmed the licensed owner (father) of his firearm. A case of negligent handling of firearm is being opened. No arrests have been made and investigations are underway.”
