A FIGHT among two groups of pupils at a bus rank in Rustenburg, North West on Friday, 2 June ended with the death of an 18-year-old pupil and another one being injured.
According to police spokesman, Captain Sam Tselenyane, police received a complainant about the incident and found members of the community gathered around a body covered with a blanket.
"Preliminary investigation revealed that the victim was stabbed with a sharp object in the throat. According to bystanders, the victim was a pupil from a high school in Rustenburg.
He said the two groups allegedly gathered at the bus rank and got into a fight, which led to the victim being stabbed.
"He was later certified dead at the scene. Another pupil who was also stabbed was transported to a local hospital by Emergency Medical Rescue Services. A 19-year-old suspect fled the scene, but was later traced and arrested.

"He is expected to appear before the Rustenburg Magistrates Court on Monday, 5 June on a charges of murder and attempted murder. Investigations into the matter continue," said Tselenyane.
North West Police Commissioner, Lieutenant-General Sello Kwena, applauded the Rustenburg police's swift reaction, which led to the arrest of the suspect.
