ANOTHER King Misuzulu kaZwelithini loyalist and royal house member, Prince Mbongiseni Zulu (63), has been shot dead.
He is the third loyalist to be killed within two months, and this has raised concerns.
Prince Mbongiseni, from Usuthu royal palace, was shot dead with his bodyguard on Thursday, 24 November, at his village in Nongoma, KZN.
He was among royal senior members who helped King Misuzulu to ascend the throne during the dispute between him and Prince Simakade Zulu.
He was also among people who forcefully removed Prince Simakade’s backers at Enyokeni royal palace for the Reed Dance Festival in September, and had an assault case opened against him after allegedly assaulting spokesman Prince Mandlakapheli Zulu.

King Misuzulu’s spokesman, Prince Thulani Zulu, has confirmed the deaths, telling Daily Sun that he would not comment further as he was still to meet with the family.
Brigadier Jay Naicker said: “Charges of murder are being investigated by Nongoma SAPS. It is alleged that at 6pm, two people, aged 33 and 63, were shot and killed. The circumstances surrounding the incident and motive are still unknown.”
Prince Mbongiseni has always been described as a smooth operator, dedicated to protecting the throne.
In September, King Misuzulu’s confidant and induna Dr Dumisani Khumalo was assassinated after attending the reed dance at his home. Then last month, induna Cuphisa Ntuli was gunned down in the community hall. No one has yet been arrested.
