ONE of the four suspects accused of killing the late Prince Lethukuthula Zulu alleges that she found Prince Zulu and his friend Nkosi Msimang sniffing a white substance.

Portia Mmola (28) said she went to Msimang’s room and reportedly found them sniffing a white substance, she asked to sniff with them, but Prince Zulu declined.

This was revealed by Portia when she took the stand at the South Gauteng High Court on Tuesday, 18 April.

Portia said she had never sniffed the white substance before, but she was allegedly given by Msimang to sniff it.

She said her three accomplices met Prince Zulu and his friend Msimang at a pub in Randburg.

According to her, they left Pretoria to attend the ladies' night at the pub, and that’s when they met Prince Zulu and Msimang.

She said: “We bought liquor and while we were sitting, a waiter came with a bucket full of booze and told us the two men sitting at the bar had bought for us.”

“I then went to the bar to thank them for buying booze for us. It was at that point the prince told me he wanted to talk to accused number one Tshegofatso Moremane (30),” she said.

Portia said she then left Prince and Msimang to go to the toilet.

“When I came back, I found my friends had moved to the bar to join Prince Zulu and Msimang.”

“They bought a lot of booze which included shooters and we had fun. When the bill came the money was not enough to settle the bill and Prince Zulu told Msimang to go and collect the money at his home,” she said.

Msimang asked me to accompany him to go and collect the money.

“The door was not closed and Msimang came holding a R200 note, and he was sniffing some white substance,” she said.

He then asked me to sniff I said no, but he insisted, and I decided to sniff the white substance and later we left the house.

The state alleges that Prince Zulu and his roommate had been drugged by the accused before several household items and cash were stolen from the apartment.

The case has been adjourned until Wednesday, 19 April.
