A 13-YEAR-OLD pupil and his father appeared in the Germiston Magistrates Court on Monday, 19 February.
The grade 6 pupil from Primrose Primary School in Germiston was charged with attempted murder while his father was charged with negligence of a firearm.
This after his son took his gun to use in the shooting of the 51-year-old principal of the school on Friday, 16 February.
The principal was shot in the staffroom and is currently covering in hospital.
A group of pupils told Daily Sun on Thursday, 15 February that the suspect was apparently suspended a day before for gambling in the school yard and the following day he brought his dad's gun to school and shot the principal.

His first target was the principal, whom he had allegedly planned to shoot in the head.
On Monday, 19 February, Chiloane visited the school and addressed the traumatised pupils. He said what happened on Friday was something not normal and pupils must not fear coming to school.
"What that child did has never happened in our schools before, where a pupil shoots a teacher. His future is compromised, as he's now going to jail. And it's not nice there."
He urged pupils to respect their teachers.
He told them that security will be beefed up to ensure their safety.
Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi, spokeswoman for the Gauteng police, confirmed the teen and his dad's court appearance.
