TOP Mzansi’s men of God, led by Archbishop Thabo Makgoba, have prayed for king Misuzulu kaZwelithini before his coronation, where he will be handed a certificate of recognition by President Cyril Ramaphosa.
During the last prayer, held in Durban, it was announced that the Anglican Church archbishop would lead the session during the main ceremony at Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday, 29 October.
During the session, king Misuzulu thanked the men of God for praying for him, and revealed that he had been holding services and prayer at his palace this week.
“I’m thankful that pastors, bishops and archbishops have prayed for me and there is no sangoma or inyanga – but only words of God and prayers. Since this week started, we have been praying for the success of this ceremony and had services,” he said.

King Misuzulu added that he was thankful to see pastors, who were also with his father, praying for him.
Archbishop Makgoba prayed for the king for a successful ceremony and the success of the Zulu monarch.
“Whatever you do, because we are human and know that difficulties will come, please just seek divine intervention. Don’t be ashamed or afraid if you have faced many struggles, and give up. Pray to God – He is the one who has all the solutions,” he said.
Meanwhile, the South African Communist Party (SACP) has distanced itself from marching against king Mswati III during the hand-over ceremony.
This after widespread news that the party would be protesting against king Mswati III, who is king Misuzulu’s uncle, and would be attending the ceremony.
KZN secretary Themba Mthembu said they had noted, with grave concern, social media posts linking the SACP to a planned march against king Mswati from Eswatini.
The party confirmed that it would not protest, but admitted that members were not comfortable that King Mswati III would be in attendance.
