HEALTHCARE workers rely on PPE to protect themselves and patients from getting infected with Covid-19.
But shortages are leaving doctors, nurses and other workers ill-equipped to care for patients.
This is due to limited access to supplies such as gloves and medical masks.

Yesterday, acting Gauteng Health MEC Jacob Mamabolo announced on Twitter they’d made a shocking discovery.
“We visited Irene County Club where PPE was discovered floating in the river,” he wrote.
“Criminal cases have been opened and the police are investigating.”

When Daily Sun contacted his spokeswoman, Kwara Kekana, she said it wasn’t clear where the PPE was from or who was responsible for throwing it away.
People on Twitter were shocked and had a lot to say on the matter.

- Kabelodick wrote: “Those things have a barcode. All they need to do is call the manufacturer, who’ll tell them who bought them, and we’ll know where they come from. Simple.”
- Mkhulu4eva wrote: “This is weird. Masuku is implicated in PPE tender fraud, Mamabolo gets appointed in his place. Three days later Mamabolo discovers PPE dumped in a river. Call me a conspiracy theorist, but something is cooking.”
