MORE than 1 387 undocumented foreign nationals were deported in four days.
This comes after Transport Minister Sindisiwe Chikunga conducted joint cross-alive road safety operations between Monday, 31 July and Thursday, 3 August, in Musina and the Beitbridge Border Post in Limpopo.
The operations saw 1 387 undocumented foreigners deported while 50 suspects were arrested for various offences, including selling liquor without a licence, assault, Grievous Bodily Harm (GBH), harbouring of undocumented persons and contravention of the Immigration Act.
Chikunga visited the operatives at the Musina Weigh Bridge to address the parade of multidisciplinary forces and gave them words of encouragement.
They were held under the theme, "Obey the Law and Cross-Alive”.

Chikunga said the cross-alive road safety campaign aims to advocate for road safety along the Beitbridge corridor just outside Musina in the province.
“It further aims to strengthen the collaboration of law enforcement operations between law enforcement authorities in the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region,” she said.
Limpopo police spokesman Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said 39 traffic summons were issued during the operations, and 79 road traffic act violations were recorded.
“There were 16 fines for contraventions of the liquor act issued and liquor confiscated, 201 illegal medications and 24 counterfeit cosmetics were confiscated, and suspects arrested,” said Ledwaba.
All the arrested suspects will appear before the magistrate courts for various offences.
