THE MALOPE family from Casteel near Bushbuckridge, Mpumalanga, is still struggling to find closure after Phanios Malope’s murder.

Phanios (55), a popular building material transporter, was found dead with multiple gunshots in his kitchen on Monday, 8 August.

His daughter Thabiso (27) said on that morning, her son went to the mkhulu’s house but found it locked.

“I then went to find out why. I knocked on his window, but my dad did not answer. I then spotted the door in his garage was open. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw my dad lying in a pool of blood on the kitchen floor,” said Thabiso.

Thabiso’s aunt Listah (59) said they won’t find closure if Phanios’ killer does not face the full might of the law. “This is a planned murder as nothing was taken,” she said.

Police spokesman Colonel Donald Mdhluli confirmed a man was shot and killed in his home in Casteel. “Shockingly, a firearm without a serial number was also found behind the door in his bedroom. There were also some live rounds. So far no one has been arrested,” he said.

Anyone with information that may help can contact Detective Captain Tabodi Sekgobela on 083 206 6316 or CrimeStop on 08600 10111.
