LIMPOPO police have launched a manhunt for a group of armed suspects who blew up safes at Bopedi Complex in Apel on Thursday, 9 February.
Brigadier Motlafela Mojapelo said police were alerted to the incident at around 2am, and responded. And while on the look-out for suspects, they noticed a vehicle fitting the description.
“Suspects opened fire at the police, who retaliated. They managed to escape in two VW Polos, silver and blue, and a white Mercedes-Benz C-Class. It is alleged that a small amount of money was stolen,” he said in a statement.
Mojapelo added that a silver Audi A4 with false registration plates was recovered at the scene, along with a pistol and some of the stolen groceries.
He urged anyone with information that could lead to the arrest to contact Detective Sergeant Junior Mashiane on 076 818 3828 or Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
