Western Cape cops have arrested a man for possession of unrefined platinum powder.
Cops say in an intelligence driven operation on Friday, 24 June in Melk Street, Maitland, saw the arrest of a 36-year-old suspect for the possession of unrefined platinum powder with a mass of 214,98 kilogram.
Police spokesman Sergeant Wesley Twigg said: “The value of the confiscated goods is yet to be determined. The members confiscated machinery and an undisclosed amount of cash during the search of the premises.”

The suspect was arrested on charges of alleged stolen property and contravention of the Precious Metal Act.
Twigg said once charged the suspect will appear in the Cape Town Magistrates Court on the mentioned charges.
