BALLGOWN and mermaid wedding dresses filled the International Pentecost Holiness Church (IPHC) in Zuurbekom on Christmas Day.
This as 58 couples walked down the aisle as part of the church’s annual mass wedding ceremony.
And while some WERE WALKING down the aisle for the first time, others were getting married FOR THE second time.
Blessed by the current church leader, Leonard Modise, the couples exchanged vows in front of the congregation and their families.
Phuti Mpai (38) and his wife, Mashoto (25), were among the couples who tied the knot.
They were entering into a polygamous marriage, with Phuti marrying his first wife in 2010.
He said: “I am so happy and I’m a lucky man. I was raised in a polygamous family and my mother was the second wife. I also grew up in a church that proudly believes in polygamous marriages.”

On the other hand, David Moloto (39) and his wife Jennifer (32) were getting married for the first time.
And David said he had prayed for this day.
“My wife and I are delighted. We feel blessed to be among the couples who got married. We feel even more proud that we got married the same year the church celebrated its 60th anniversary.”
He said he had been praying for the right woman to come along, and God finally answered.
“We are happy that our marriage was also blessed by the current his grace, comforter Modise.”
“I definitely see myself getting married again in the future, with blessings from my wife – who is my queen,” he said.
Entertainment during the ceremony was provided by the church drummers.
In a statement released by the church, it said a total of 58 couples got married.
It is its tradition to host three mass wedding ceremonies every year.
They are held on Good Friday, in September as part of the church’s new year’s celebrations, as well as during the Christmas season – even though the church does not celebrate Christmas.
