THREE suspects, Imanuwela David (39), Froliana Joseph (30), and David Joseph (27), appeared at Bela Bela Magistrates Court on Friday, 23 February.

Their appearance is in connection with the ongoing Phala Phala farm case.

The three accused are facing charges of theft, conspiracy to commit housebreaking with intent to steal and theft, and an additional charge of money laundering to Imanuwela.

"The Phala Phala matter has been postponed to 26 April 2024 for further investigations. The state requested a postponement to finalise outstanding investigations, which involve the assistance of third parties like cellphone records and video footage," she said.

Malabi-Dzhangi further said that the postponement of the matter is to finalise investigation involving other arrests from Namibia.

Koena Matlala Koena Matlala Attorneys said: "We don't have a problem with Imanuwela remaining in custody because it's our instruction that he remains in custody. There's no problem, and not in a hurry. We're waiting for whatever happens from the state's side."

The three suspects were arrested in connection with the theft and money laundering amounting to US$580 000, which was stolen at Phala Phala farm, which belongs to President Cyril Ramaphosa.
