A CAPE TOWN man who filled up petrol at a filling station in Parow and sped off without paying on Tuesday ended up in big trouble.
This after Metro cops and a security company from the area gave chase and caught him with the fuel nozzle still in his car’s tank. The hose had broken off the fuel pump.
Not only that, the cops also discovered some drugs in the man’s car, which had fraudulent number plates. MMC of Safety and Security Jean-Pierre Smith said the incident happened while he was on patrol with Action Society’s director Ian Cameron.

“A private security company flagged down Metro cops in Cravenby to inform them of a perpetrator who had just stolen fuel and had driven off without paying,” he said.
The MMC thanked the quick-thinking security guards who informed Metro cops about the theft that led to the arrest of the suspect.
“A case was opened at Elsies River Police Station, and the suspect faces charges of theft, malicious damage to property, possession of drugs, and false number plates,” said Smith.
