THERESAPARK High School parents in Pretoria North are upset and have come together to express their disappointment.
Despite their planned non-violent protest outside the school on Monday, 4 March, they told Daily Sun that classes would continue as normal and won't be interfered with.
According to the parents, the school is in a bad state and there's overcrowding, which is unfavourable for teaching and learning, a shortage of teachers, and this has resulted in pupils attending classes on a rotational basis.
The parents said there is also a shortage of toilets at the school.
A parent, whose child was promoted last year, said her child was depressed because they haven't been attending classes since the beginning of the year.
"Our children are deprived of their education. They're depressed and teachers are also overloaded," said the parent.
"The department has failed us. The MEC for education came to the school and made empty promises regarding the placing of children in nearby high schools. Pupils come home every day with a heavy workload that they're forced to complete under pressure, and this is frustrating."

Another parent, Lebogang Letlape said the school is located in a bushy area, and there have been cases of snakes and insects that could harm the pupils.
"Another burning issue is children doing drugs at the school. Recently, the school concealed the fact that the police detained a pupil who was allegedly selling marijuana at school," she said.
Mcqobile Zwane, another parent, said all the children at the school were placed by the government without their parents' consent.
"We're unhappy with the school because of its bad infrastructure and poor management," he said.
A number of parents had already arrived at the school to help address some of the burning the issues.
This is a developing story.
