THE African Transformation Movement (ATM) has taken a decision to approach the High Court with the aim of reviewing the report by the acting Public Protector and have it set aside.
This after acting Public Protector Advocate Kholeka Gcaleka cleared President Cyril Ramaphosa of any wrongdoing in the Phala Phala farm scandal on Friday, 30 June.
ATM said that they reject the report issued by Gcaleka. “This report, which has been presented to the public, will not withstand even the slightest legal scrutiny. It is fundamentally flawed from its inception to its conclusion,” said ATM.
“The president has to account for his crimes in Phala Phala, and we will not rest until he does.”

The party said that the report issued by Gcaleka undermines the intelligence of South Africans. “South Africans are fully aware of the crimes committed by the president in Phala-Phala despite the acting Public Protector bending over backwards to clear the President,” said the party.
“Although the acting Public Protector has chosen to point at everyone except the president, we assert that the president is unequivocally guilty of a series of crimes including the violation of Section 34(1) of the Prevention and Combating of Corrupt Activities Act (PRECCA).”
Meanwhile, the EFF has also rejected the report presented by Gcaleka.
According to the EFF, the report on Phala phala farm is nonsensical and illogical.
“The president of South Africa stands accused of money laundering, kidnapping, bribery, and misuse of state resources to pursue the recovery of millions of US Dollars, which he kept illicitly at his Phala Phala farm. As a result, he is palpably culpable for violating the Executive Members Ethics Act (EMEA), as he actively participated in work to generate profit as a member of Cabinet.
“In the past year, Ramaphosa has been exposed to have undermined the laws that regulate the entrance and managing of foreign currency, and all financial transactions that pertain to the exchange of foreign currency in South Africa. To date, the South African Reserve Bank (SARB) has no record of the declaration of the millions of US Dollars which entered South Africa under the pretence of the sale of game,” said the EFF.
