POLICE in the North West have arrested a woman for allegedly killing her sister-in-law.

The 36-year-old was arrested on Wednesday, 2 August.

It is alleged that on Tuesday morning, 22 November 2022, police were called regarding a shooting incident at the suspect's home, in which the body of a 40-year-old woman was found in one of the outside rooms.

The woman was found lying on the floor in a pool of blood, with several gunshot wounds. She was later declared dead at the scene.

It was also discovered that the burglar door was forced open, and the door was slightly opened.

The North West police spokesman, Captain Sam Tselanyane said following the incident, a murder case was registered at the Tlhabane Police Station. It was later transferred to the provincial murder and robbery unit for further investigation. 

Tselanyane said an intensive investigation led to the tracing and arrest of the accused who is married to the victim's brother.

The suspect appeared in the Bafokeng Magistrates Court in Tlhabane on Friday, 4 Friday on a charge of murder.

The case was postponed to Tuesday, 8 August for a formal bail application.

The North West provincial commissioner, Lieutenant-General Sello Kwena praised the team members and everyone involved for the breakthrough.
