THE North West welcomed the 2023 Netball World Cup trophy during Father's Day on Sunday, 18 June in Potchefstroom.
Jovial supporters came in numbers to welcome the trophy coming from the Free State.
The North West Flames players, Dr Kenneth Kaunda District Netball Legends and the provincial community were there with the Netball mascot called "Letsatsi" accompanied the trophy.
Speaking to Daily Sun, excited Nonzukiso Mgweba who came to celebrate, said: "It is good to see that netball is still recognised in our country. The last time we played, it was at school."

The North West provincial delegation led by MEC for Arts, Culture, Sports and Recreation, Keneetswe Mosenogi received the trophy from her counterpart MEC Limakatso Mahasa and Netball South Africa president, Cecelia Molokwane.
JB Marks and Matlosana mayors Gaba ka Qhele and James Tsolela also graced the occasion.
Another resident, Jeffrey Masiu, said: "I'm so excited to be part of this moment, because the last time I saw this, it was around 2010 for the soccer World Cup tour at Orkney's Oppenheimer Stadium."
"Next time I want to watch these games at my nearest stadium because this is too far for some of us," said another supporter, Mathapelo Matsau.
Those who are far from Cape Town have been encouraged to watch games at the selected parks.
The trophy was expected to be at the Dr Kenneth Kaunda District at Wolmaranstad Spar on Monday, 19 June, between 7am and 8am, followed by a drive through Jouberton, Kanana Shopping Complex, Klerksdorp Main Street, Matlosana Mall, as well as Ventersdorp.
