T he defacing of Archbishop Desmond Tutu’s mural in Cape Town is distasteful.
It’s embarrassing that he has been defaced by a racist slur written underneath the left eye of the painting.
The words are derogatory, and I believe this was done by someone with evil motives.
I understand why citizens are outraged by racism as this hurts.
There must never be a place for racism in our country. This is an insult to the Archbishop and nation.
How are we to move on if such disturbing things keep happening? We still have racists who hate black people with passion. Authorities need to identify and arrest the person who scrawled the K-word on Tutu’s face, and put them behind bars.
This is unacceptable, and Tutu deserves respect. There must be consequences for acts of racism and hate speech. The city needs to show that it is against racism in the province. Racists must not have a place to hide in Mzansi.
