THE Brandfort Magistrates Court has denied a 20-year-old matric pupil, who is accused of murdering his physical science teacher at Kagisano Combined School in the Free State to be allowed to write his final examinations.
The pupil made his first appearance on Monday, 24 October.
His Legal Aid lawyer asked that he be granted permission to write his examinations as they will commence on Monday, 31 October
The National Prosecuting Authority has denied the proposal and said other pupils will experience further trauma if he’sbe given an opportunity to write final examination with a black cloud over his head.
The matriculant allegedly stabbed teacher Matefo Mphosela (35) during the night at her home on Thursday, 20 October
The deceased’s family seeks justice.
The deceased’s sister Kate Mphosela said: “We call for harsh punishment against the accused, though we know our correctional facilities are hotels where criminals go for refreshment. Our hearts are bleeding.”

According to Education MEC Tate Makgoe, the pupil had improved in physical science in the September trial examinations.
“Everybody is confused about why he decided to kill the person who nurtured him to the right direction,” said Makgoe.
Premier Sisi Ntombela was expected to visit the family of the slain teacher.
Her spokeswoman Palesa Chubisi said the scourge of gender-based violence and femicide continues to rob the country of incredible people contributing immensely towards the development of society, particularly kids.
NPA spokesman Phaladi Shuping said it is too early to discuss concrete evidence against the accused.
The case has been postponed to 31 October for a bail application.
