THE newly appointed Mayor Dorcus Mboyi has promised to provide quality services to the residents of Makhado and the neighbouring disadvantaged communities.
Mboyi officially took office as mayor of the Makhado Municipality in Limpopo during a special council meeting on Wednesday, 15 November.
This transition follows the resignation of former mayor Samuel Munyai earlier in the week.
Mboyi, who was previously the Makhado Municipal Council and councillor since 2006, has held various positions within the ranks of the ANC.
Several changes were made during the council meeting, including the appointment of former head of technical services, Councillor Gumani Mukwevho-Mitileni, as the new speaker of the council.
In addition, former community services portfolio head, Councillor Rachel Raliphada, was appointed as technical services portfolio head.

The newly appointed head of youth and special programmes is Councillor Enock Sithi.
In her inaugural address, the mayor expressed her commitment to representing the ANC to the best of her ability and emphasised the need to work together to improve the community service.
However, not all residents share the same optimism.
Resident Dumisani Mukhari expressed doubt that anything will change.
"But as residents, we want them to provide us with water, develop our communities, complete the long-awaited multi-million-rand Waterval Stadium, build roads and provide compensation for recruitment," he said.
Wiseman Ramalwa, a public relations councillor for the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), doubts that there will be any significant changes.
"It seems that the ANC is not ready to bring about change because the previous mayor also promised a lot but did not bring about change," he said.
Masilo Mpashe, a Democratic Alliance (DA) councillor, expressed hope for improved service delivery, particularly in the areas of water supply, roads, sanitation and job opportunities.
