HE SITS next to the Heidelberg main road to advertise a farm butchery.
Simoni Alufeyo has a small billboard sign on his back and another in front.
The 35-year-old stands or sits on the busy road going to Carnival City in Gauteng to attract customers.
The butchery is in Withok Estates, Brakpan in Ekurhuleni.
When he gets tired he sits on a rock. Simoni has to be there the whole day in the hot sun.
The man from Malawi told Daily Sun he works twice a week and he’s paid R100.
“I have to take the job because I have children to feed. I wish I could get a better job,” he said.
Some motorists say they don’t like what is happening to Simoni.
“This is not right. The poor man has to stand on the main road the whole day and he doesn’t even have a chair to sit on,” said one motorist.
“This is called abuse.”
While others liked the butchery owner’s unusual idea, they said he should at least have erected some form of shade and given him a chair.
Daily Sun spoke to the manager of the butchery, Gert Watson, who said: “He stands there for 30 minutes and goes back. I don’t think that’s abuse.
“Must I tell him to go? Let those who are complaining give him a job.”
