BUYISWA Manono is a happy mother.
This after her drug-addicted son was taken to rehab on Tuesday.
Daily Sun published Buyiswa’s story on Monday, where she asked for help with rehabilitation for her son. She had resorted to chaining up 17-year-old Asanda to stop him from going out to take drugs.

After the story was published, the Western Cape Department of Social Development came to her rescue.
“I’m happy my son was taken to rehab and hope he will be rehabilitated into the good child he used to be.
“I want to thank Daily Sun for publishing my problem. Having to always guard him was stressful and I believe he will be a good boy when he comes back.”

The 39-year-old mum from Philippi, Cape Town, said she would try to get another place to live when he returns as she didn’t want him to come back to the same community.
She said her worst fear was that her son would be killed by drug dealers or the community.
“Some men with firearms recently came looking for him, claiming he had stolen their phone and wanted it back,” she said.
“I will do everything to ensure he gets back to normal,” Buyiswa said.
