THE bail hearing of a 31-year-old mother who allegedly poisoned her two daughters, husband and the family cat is expected to be heard in the Bethlehem Magistrate court, Free State Friday, 1 July.
The hearing was postponed due to a power failure on Thursday, 30 June.
The accused and her 21-year-old sister were arrested on Friday, 24 June.
The two children, aged 14 and 10, their father (49) and the cat died from poison poisoning after eating a brown soup on 22 June.
An 11-year-old child is fighting for her life in hospital.
Police spokesman Captain Phumelelo Dhlamini said the children complained of abdominal cramps while they were at school outside Bethlehem.
They were taken to the nearby clinic where they were certified dead.
Their father died on his way to hospital after he ate beans.
“The postmortem has revealed that the cause of death as food poisoning,” said Dhlamini.
A family spokesman said they believed the murders were premeditated.
The accused have been charged with three counts of murder and one attempted murder.
They are expected to make formal bail applications.
