THE man who allegedly killed his mother, and then cut off her head and legs, has been arrested.

Police said the suspect (30) was tracked down and found hiding at the top of a tree in one of the schools in Phuthaditjhaba, Free State, on Wednesday, 7 June.

“Our team has been working around the clock and managed to find out where the suspect was,” said Captain Phumelelo Dlamini.

“The suspect has been charged with murder and attempted murder.”

He said the suspect was expected to appear in the Phuthaditjhaba Magistrates Court on Friday, 10 June.

The suspect allegedly killed his mother on Monday, 6 June and then cut off her head and legs.

He fled the scene after his father allegedly found him shoving her body parts into a plastic bag.

When the father confronted him, he stabbed him.

The family has confirmed the father was recovering well in hospital.

The tragic murder was committed allegedly after the mother refused to buy the suspect a car. The family said he was a drug addict who used to joke about his dream of killing her.

The police has requested the family to vacate the house where the tragedy took place for investigation purposes.
