Mum bust for child negligence

accreditation

A MUM who abandoned her 18-month-old baby boy has been bust.

The search for the woman started soon after Daily Sun published the story about the crime online on Friday, 18 November.

The woman was tracked down and forced to hand herself over to the cops in Kempton Park, Ekurhuleni, after residents identified her.

The 29-year-old woman, originally from Mozambique, said she dumped her baby after an argument with the father.

She was charged with child negligence.

Captain Jethro Mtshali said the baby, who was dumped on Thursday, was taken to Tembisa Hospital as he seemed to be in poor health.

He said the mother is expected to appear in court on Monday.

“The police were performing a normal patrol on Central Avenue when a member of the public approached them with a child, claiming the little boy was found wandering alone,” he said.

“We are appealing to relatives to come forward,” said Mtshali.
