A SERIAL rapist who was preying on young women in Siyabuswa's reign of terror has come to an end.
The rapist has been sentenced to 122 years for rape, robbery and assault.
Nkosinathi Mgidi was sentenced on Thursday, 21 September in the Middelburg High Court, Mpumalanga.
The 29-year-old's time of brutality started in 2012 and ended in 2020 after he was arrested for rape.
The court heard the accused pretended to buy cigarettes from one of the victim's house and also requested an umbrella.
When the victim came back, she found the accused holding a knife and he threatened her with it.
He further ordered her to her bedroom, forced her to undress and raped her. He tried to stash the victim in a trunk and when he saw that she couldn't fit, the accused then left with the victim.
The accused testified that his actions were a result of evil spirits and peer pressure.
He said he wanted to prove to his friends that he was a man and as a singer, he should have lots of girlfriends.
Senior state Advocate Bakedi Maoke indicated to the court that the accused premeditated and executed the offences well.

She told the court that the accused did not just decide to kidnap, rob and rape the victims but used a modus operandi in committing the offences.
She further requested the court to hand him a harsher sentence as he did not show any remorse for his deeds despite the overwhelming evidence the state had.
Handing down the sentence, Judge Thandolwethu Mankge said all the offences that were committed in this case were not committed in a spare of a moment.
"The accused was walking around to execute his plan of kidnapping the victims, derailing them off their ways of places where the rest of the offences were committed," said the judge.
A victim, who was gang raped by the accused and his three friends when she was 15 years old, told Daily Sun that she is happy to see the man who caused her too much pain behind bars.
"I am happy that finally he has been sentenced. He has caused me so much pain and trauma," she said.
National Prosecuting Authority spokeswoman Monica Nyuswa said the sentence has restored the trust of the victims and the community of Siyabuswa.
