ORANGE Farm and Mondeor cop shops are allegedly refusing to investigate how Mpho Motin was killed.

This after her boyfriend took her to the Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital mortuary without calling the ambulance or cops.

Mpho (33) from Eikenhof, south of Joburg, was last seen by her family on Friday, 29 July. Then on Sunday, 31 July, her boyfriend told them she had died.

The Motin family from Orange Farm now wanted answers.

They told Daily Sun that when they got to the mortuary, Mpho had bruises and marks on her neck.

And because they were aware that she was in an abusive relationship, they believed her boyfriend might have killed her.

Mpho’s sister Semakaleng Phadi (38) said: “We went to Orange Farm Police Station to open a case, but we were sent to Mondeor so the officer can investigate Mpho’s death.”

However, she said Mondeor cops refused to open a case.

Baragwanath spokesman Nkosiyethu Mazibuko said the woman was confirmed dead on arrival and in such cases, the hospital did not take responsibility for postmortems.

“The hospital only kept the body, as the family needed to arrange a mortuary for her.”

He urged the family to open a case with the police and get a private doctor to do a postmortem to find out happened.

Colonel Noxolo Khweza said the family had been assisted to open a case.

“At this stage, we have opened an inquest docket to establish how she died. In regard to lack of assistance previously, I appeal to the family to also report those members to the police management. They can approach the district office with their dissatisfaction.

“Allegations will be investigated and if members are found to have done wrong, they will be charged.”
