HUNDREDS of angry Mozambican nationals belonging to the Mahlo Ya Rixaka Community Projects in Bushbuckridge, Mpumalanga, took to the streets on Wednesday, 14 June.
They are demanding their identity documents from Home Affairs.
The protesters were led by Velly Manzini and Paulos Mlambo, who marched from Thulamahashe New Stadium to hand over their memorandum of grievances at Mhala Home Affairs offices.
They said their memorandum is directed to Home Affairs Minister Dr Aaron Motsoaledi.
They're accusing the department of partially blocking their IDs as well as their kids' birth certificates. They are also demanding Motsoaledi unblock them or respond to their memorandum within 30 working days.
"We wish to register our grievances against our government that we elected, particularly the Department of Home Affairs, with a view of getting urgent assistance. We place on record that duly applied and issued identity documents of members of Mahlo Ya Rixaka Community Projects are blocked to date without any legal reason," said Manzini.

Mlambo said that it was unlawful and an anti-Ubuntu conduct by Home Affairs which negatively affected them and their kids.
"Children born here in our country of South Africa are not issued with birth certificates, and it violates Section 28 of the Constitution Act 108 of 1996. Pupils in grade 12 are refused access to tertiary institutions because of absence of proper identification documents. We are dismissed from our respective employments because of blocked identity documents," he said.
Mhala Home Affairs manager Robert Khoza received and signed the memorandum.
"We can confirm that we've received the memorandum and will deliver it to the relevant authorities," he said.
