THE father of Babalo Ndwayana (19), a first-year Stellenbosch student whose belongings were urinated on by another student, wants justice.
He dismissed reports that he was going to meet with the father of the alleged perpetrator to discuss the matter.
Mkuseli Kaduka said he received a call from the father, requesting that they meet.
He said he did not agree as all he wanted was justice for his son.
“Rumours are making the rounds that I’m meeting with the family of the perpetrator to reconcile. I did receive a call from the boy’s father, trying to plead his case as any parent would. Certain forces are driving their agenda and perpetuating false information,” he said.
He said he was committed only to seeing his son’s dignity restored.
“I’m committed to seeing this fight through to the end. If I come out of this with anything, it will be the dignity of my child restored and the perpetrator facing what’s due to them. I will not waiver nor yield in my quest to seek justice,” Kaduka said.
The incident caused a massive outrage on social media, with students protesting at the campus demanding for the perpetrator to be expelled. The university suspended him on 16 May.
The video showed him urinating on a desk that has a laptop and books.
Ndwayana said he was shocked to wake up in the middle of the night to see someone urinating on his belongings.
An online petition, that currently has nearly 100 000 signatures, has called for the perpetrator to be kicked out of the university.
