TWO security guards have laid criminal charges against a police general.
This after they were released on bail on Wednesday, 6 September. The guards were arrested after they refused to let the general enter a residential complex on Monday, 4 September.
The guards were assaulted when the general allegedly called for backup to help him gain entry to the complex.
This led to the general telling residents to remove the boom gate, saying it's illegal for the complex to have a safety gate.
Residents of Simunye in the West Rand told Daily Sun they erected the boom gate and asked people to volunteer to do access control at the gate.
Because of criminal activities that were taking place in the complex, the municipality approved for the gate to be erected.

The angry residents said they are busy with a petition to stop the general.
One of the guards, Peter Ramokane, said it hurts that he is now facing criminal charges for stopping an unknown car that was getting into the complex.
"I was assaulted and pointed with a firearm while the general ordered a police constable to shoot me," he said.
Peter said there was a struggle when the constable took out the firearm as he was trying to make sure he doesn’t pull the trigger.
"I also struggled with the general and he assaulted me. When we got to the police station, the general told the police to make an example of us and that we rot in jail so the community members respect him,” he said.
National Prosecuting Authority spokeswoman Phindi Mjonondwane and said two security officers, Ramokane and Sibusiso Diokweni appeared in the Westonaria Magistrates Court on Wednesday, 6 September on charges of attempted robbery, assault, resisting arrest and crimen injuria.
Mjonondwane said both accused were released on R1 000 bail and will be back in court on Friday, 29 September as the case was postponed for further investigation.
Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) spokesman, Robbie Raburabu, said IPID has just received an assault case for further investigation.
