MMUSI Maimane got robbed by gunmen at a bar in Cape Town.
The politician and businessman, who is the former leader of the Democratic Alliance, took to Instagram on Wednesday, 3August, to share what transpired while he was at a bar with his brother-in-law that night.
According to News24, the brother-in-law was visiting from overseas.
“Tonight, I took my brother-in-law out for a drink at a bar. It wasn’t 30 min and three gunmen came into the bar, pulled out guns, had all of us down and proceeded to rob every table,” wrote Maimane.

He said the moment felt like a movie.
Mmusi continued: “You think of what could have been. Crime in our country is out of control. I wonder and lament the lives of all people that were shot at a tavern, they like us went out to have a drink and they lost their lives.”
He said the cops arrived promptly, however, he is not sure if the robbers will get arrested.
According to News24, police spokesman Sergeant Wesley Twigg said police are investigating a case of business robbery at a Claremont restaurant. The robbery took place at about 7.45pm.
“According to reports, unknown suspects entered the restaurant and threatened the supervisor and staff with a firearm. The suspects fled the scene with cellular telephones and an undisclosed amount of cash. No shots were fired and no injuries were reported,” said Twigg.
