SUSPENDED Public Protector Advocate Busisiwe Mkhwebane told the Parliament's Committee for Section 194 inquiry that her impeachment process was politically motivated.
Mkhwebane took the stand on Wednesday, 15 March, to give evidence of why she believed she was fit for the job.
She said she took the PP job knowing that some people would insult and vilify her.
"I said I would want to serve the public to make sure that I become the voice of the voiceless," she said.
Mkhwebane said she was before the committee because there were cases 'that touched the untouchables'.
She mentioned the CR17 case that involves BOSASA's donation to President Cyril Ramaphosa's presidential campaign in 2017 and the so-called rogue unit matter involving minister Pravin Gordhan.
"This whole process is also a vanity 'Special Project' of the Democratic Alliance (DA) aimed at scoring political points as the first party to have ever caused a head of the Chapter Nine institution to face impeachment proceedings. This process has nothing to do with accountability," said Mkhwebane.
She said she was just being used as a sacrificial lamb.
She added that the process had nothing to do with the Constitution or the Rule of law.
"This process is as far removed from the Constitution as the South is from the North. It is a politically motivated witch-hunt masquerading as a bona fide enquiry under the auspices of section 194 of the Constitution. It is not.

“It is a racially motivated campaign borne out of the fear of real change which might actually benefit the poorest and most marginalised members of the public who are in the main black at the expense of those who benefit the most from an untransformed economic status quo, who are in the main white and the backbone constituency of the DA".
She said she tried in vain to inform former Speaker Thandi Modise about the unfairness of the process.
Mkhwebane said she found out about her suspension on 9 June 2022 from the media, three days after she sent the "famous 31 questions" Ramaphosa about the Phala Phala saga.
She said she should have been in the office doing her work instead of being in the impeachment process that was pointless, fruitless and illegal.
The under-fire public protector said witnesses called by evidence leaders have "exonerated me of any impeachable wrongdoing" in respect of any single one of the charges.
