TODDLER Motheo Rashilo, who went missing on 28 October, was found dead in the bushes near Malatane Village on 2 November.
She went missing at about 9am in Lebowakgomo, Limpopo.
Daily Sun published the story on 1 November, headlined: “Help mum and cops find baby Motheo.”
According to police spokesperson, Lieutenant-Colonel Mamphaswa Seabi, an inquest case has been opened after the toddler was found dead.
Seabi also said police were appealing to anyone with information regarding this incident to urgently contact the investigating officer Detective Sergeant Michael Magadani as indicated below.

Seabi said it wasn’t clear at this stage how the victim got to the bushes, but the unfolding police investigations will ultimately reveal the cause of death.
“Police appeal to community members to give them space to fully investigate the matter.
“The police continue with investigations,” he said.
“The mother allegedly left the child at her friend’s place while she ran errands. When she returned, she was informed that the child had disappeared.”

He said the mother reported the matter to Lebowakgomo Police Station.
“Police immediately started with investigations and search operations which ultimately led to the discovery of the body on Wednesday at about 4pm.”
