THE family of a Durban University of Technology (DUT) student, Brighton Siyabonga "Muntunyana" Dibakoane, is having sleepless nights.
This after the final-year student (24) mysteriously disappeared in Durban Westville in KZN on 29 November 2022.
His worried mum, Dorothy (41) from Alexandria in Marite near Bushbuckridge, Mpumalanga, said they reported him missing and also searched for him at hospitals and government mortuaries, but with no luck.
She said they last spoke to him on the phone on 28 November 2022, but he did not sound okay.
"Siyabonga's voice was high on the phone. So we suspected something was wrong with him. But we thought he would be alright soon," she said.

Dorothy said Siyabonga's university friend, who identified himself as Ndumiso, called them the following day to say Siyabonga's condition was bad.
"Ndumiso said Siyabonga was behaving very strangely. He insisted we must come and take him home immediately. He said Siyabonga's landlord evicted him from his rented flat in Durban for unknown reasons.
"Ndumiso alleged they tried to grab him, but he apparently overpowered them and ran away. When we got there, Siyabonga was nowhere to be found. We looked for him at hospitals, government mortuaries and police stations in vain," said Dorothy.
Siyabonga's worried gogo, Jane, told Daily Sun they believe her grandson is still alive.
"He's alive, so we're appealing to the public to help us find him," she said.
Police spokesman Brigadier Selvy Mohlala confirmed that a missing persons case was opened. Anyone with information on Siyabonga's whereabouts can contact the family on 071 184 8246, 072 930 4123 or 064 932 1530.
